I started this journey in July 2010 just after the BP spill happen.I'm an emergency responder to CATastrophes like oil spills,(mainly)hurricanes exec.Environmental restoration specialist.(I made that up,ha!)I work for SouthernCat Inc. & this is my third tour with them in three different states.Pensacola,FL Venice,LA & Battle creek ,MI.Those of us who work these gigs are a special breed!You learn to forge alliances and build bonds with characters & personalities from all parts of the country,world & walks of life...You don't need to be a scholar to do this work,but you do need "character"& a 40 hr hazwopper.Adaptable to a variety of environments,situations & temperaments .Suitably people skills & the aptitude to be liked goes a long way.Lanky 12 hr days in a different run around.Alcohol,strip clubs & gambling the methods of blowing off steam.The motto"what is constant is inconsistency".Make & spend lots of money in short well lived spurts of enjoyment,memorable to say the least!chance to travel,work & live among generally good & hard working Americans makes my job a bit more interesting.Hey it beats office work!Although its been a tremendous sacrifice,being away from my daughter.Its given me independence & given a quiet slap in the face without hands(Cuban saying).I'm happy for now,with a sense of pride in the man I have become.Impiety will glom my life no further!I'm an educated fool,from an uneducated school & despite the fact hat I'm a little crazy .That's what makes me who i am!
